Assessment and Intervention/Use of Data Strategies are:
Congruent Provincially
- Boards in the Toronto and Area Region identified strong community/Ministry partnerships that included work with coterminous boards (e.g., Success by Six Peel, Our Kids Network, and the transition to Kindergarten committee) and Ministry and/or board initiatives to support students in junior kindergarten-grade one experiencing challenges. Some of these initiatives include The Literacy and Numeracy Secretariat's kindergarten-grade one collaborative inquiry projects in the areas of oral language and mathematical skill development; staggered entry for JK-K students; early and ongoing identification documentation in curriculum and special education; and the "Even Start" program for pre-kindergarten students. - The focus of the CODE project in District School Board Ontario North East was on the use of formative assessment data to drive instruction and intervention. The CODE project aligned with an inquiry project sponsored by The Literacy and Numeracy Secretariat. A network was established that included district special education resource teachers, literacy coaches and the board's Student Achievement Officer from the LNS.
